Reminder: delayed to March 6th!

Bottom line up front: Just a quick reminder that we do NOT bowl tonight, but rather we're starting on March 6th! Still time to sign up and save. If you're already signed up, you're all good. Also, what do you think about 3 person teams?

This post is mostly a correction to my previous one, where I mistakenly put March 7th, instead of Sunday March 6th as our new starting date for what will be SPRING 2022.

Again, we're starting our new season on March 6th (still a Sunday, all the usual breaks apply blah blah blah).

If you have already registered:

- No worries! You're registered and good to go.

If you have NOT registered:

- You can still sign up to bowl for Winter, but if you're skittish with all of the delays, who can blame you?

Also! Given that most of our teams seem to be 2 or 3 players with some scattered free agents, tell me what you think of making 3 person teams this season and going forward! There are some 3 person team leagues (one that comes to mind is Duke Heart, who used to play on Sundays back when we first started).

Pros:

  • Allows for more teams, and more competition

  • Removes that 'blinded team average' player from the existing 3 person teams

  • Makes it easier for couples to add in an extra free agent to create a team

  • Faster game nights, definitely done by 9 every Sunday night

Cons

  • We do have some pre-made 4 person teams who would have to break up

  • More teams means that if we have a larger group (like we usually do in Spring), then some teams may not get to play one another

Dates to remember:

March 6, 2022: first day of Winter 2022

Apr 17, 2022: Easter Sunday- no bowling

I'll update with additional missed weeks/date for final week party, etc.

Basically, we're skipping winter and getting a jump on the spring season.

Beyond here is the usual stuff you get in every recruiting email.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The usual bowling league perks will apply: 3 games on Sundays, 2 free practice games per week, discounts on food and soft drinks at the snack bar, etc.

  • There will be no post-bowling this season if you miss a week. Pre-bowling only.

  • Due to payment issues in previous seasons, all bowlers must pay in advance before the season starts. No exceptions.

  • All bowlers must be vaccinated. Get your vaccine. Stop making excuses. (No, a previous positive test is not the same as a vaccine.)

  • Bowlers must wear masks at all times. Obviously, you can take your mask down to eat or drink, but put it back on. And remember, the damn thing goes over your nose.

  • If you are sick have a close exposure, I expect you to quarantine per CDC guidelines. Please see this website for more details on when you should quarantine. Don't bring that nonsense to our league: if you're sick, STAY HOME.

Once again, I apologize for all of the delays, but I do think that with our COVID numbers now consistently going down, it looks like early March will be a safer time for us to play.
