Fall 2025: Playoffs!

BLUF:

• Tonight starts our playoffs, the top 8 teams will play in a single -elimination, bracket style tournament.

• If you are not in the playoffs, you still bowl, you paid for the whole season.

• Rules for playoffs below, basically it's best of 3 games and total points as tie breaker.

• Happy birthday, US Marine Corps, and Happy Veterans Day!

We've reached the end of the regular season and the playoffs begin tonight.  The top 8 of our 9 teams will compete with the following rules:

1. This is a bracket style tournament, with matchups being 8th vs. 1st, 7th vs. 2nd, etc.  

2. 9th place will not compete, but you'll still play.  

3. We'll play our usual 3 games, and the winning team for 2 of 3 of those games will move on to the next round.  

   • If there is a tie, then total pins (handicap) will be used.

   • If there's is still a tie, then total scratch pins will be used.

   • If there's still a tie, I give up managing this league. 

4. If your team is does not move forward, you'll still play out the season, since we all are just here to have some fun anyway.  

Here are the matchups:

ET bowl home will play Closed on Sunday

Redshirts will play Rock N' Roll Express

Bowling Stones will play Kellerman's

Always Be Closing will play Calculated.

Split Happens, we love you, and you'll be playing the vacant team. 

Important notes:

• Players must be present.  At least 2 players on each team must show (1 player on 3 person teams).  If your team does not show, they will forfeit (and the 9th place team will take your place). 

  • If you are not going to be there, please make sure to let your team and me know so that we don't delay any longer than we need to waiting on you. 

• No pre-bowling scores will be used, if you have a player out, use their blind score.

  • You can pre-bowl, since you paid for the games and want to get your money's worth, but it won't be counted toward your team score.

• Remember, this is a social league, we're here for fun.

One off-topic thought:   It's veteran's day weekend. Please take some time to thank those who have served and are serving in our nation's military. This is not a weekend to remember the dead, that's Memorial Day. Today's the day to celebrate the living sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. 

  Certainly, we are not a perfect nation, and we have plenty of issues to still work out. However, our military women and men have made the choice to put their nation before themselves and even their families. And that deserves recognition.  So, take some time to thank a veteran this weekend.

   Also, happy 250th birthday, Marines, on Monday.  Semper Fi.  

Tips for a better season:

• Swap contact info with your teammates, and be sure to communicate when you'll be out, if you pre-bowled, etc.

• Be on time.  League starts at 6:15, practice starts no later than 6:20 and competitive games should start no later than 6:30.

• Have patience with the bowling alley when things break.

• Helpful apps:

  • Leaguepals (www.leaguepals.com) is an app that will show you schedules, scores, leaderboards, etc., for our league.

  • LaneTalk (www.lanetalk.com) allows you to track your games in real time by syncing up with Bowlero's software.  If you're afraid your scores are incorrect, this is a handy way to go back and double check.

• Read the periodic emails I'll send out.  You can also follow us on FB or Instagram.

• Have fun!  Remember that this is a social league that's mostly about having fun and hanging out. Don't lose sight of that.

Bowling etiquette:

• Be ready to bowl when it's your turn.

• Be aware of other bowlers: if 2 bowlers make the approach side by side, the bowler on the right has the right of way.

• Once your turn is done, finish up and get out of the way.

• Wear bowling shoes.

• Keep an eye on food and drink.

• Don't be a jerk.
